Engage Summer School

The three modules can be followed separately or together, to equip you for effective engagement in our society today.

ENGAGING THE CITY JULY 13-17

This module will help you:

• Understand the biblical vision of the city

• Articulate a holistic gospel (social+systemic)

• Discern the spiritual and cultural dynamics shaping modern cities

• Engage key urban sectors (economics, justice, culture, environment)

• Develop contextual strategies for your own city

The course will involve:

Morning sessions of worship & prayer, followed by interactive lectures

Afternoon field activities in the city of Amsterdam

Evening films and discussions

Course instructors include: Piet Brinksma, Daniel de Bruin, Jeff Fountain and Tim Svoboda (video)

Course fees: €250 for five days, including lunch and dinner (from Monday 9.00 to Friday 19.00)

Accommodation: available for a limited number of participants, for €100 pp, including breakfast.

This module will help you understand:

• The public square, and who shapes it

• The role of faith in pluralistic societies

• What the ‘public truth’ of the gospel is

• How we can engage without withdrawing or dominating

• What faithful, creative, and courageous presence looks like today.

The course will involve:

Morning sessions of worship & prayer, followed by interactive lectures

Afternoon field activities in the city of Amsterdam

Evening films and discussions

ENGAGING THE PUBLIC SQUARE JULY 20-24

ENGAGING EUROPE
JULY 26-31

This module will help you understand and engage Europe as:

• A civilisation deeply shaped by the gospel

• A culture wrestling with secularism and identity

• A project (EU) searching for its soul – for moral and spiritual foundations:

• A field of both crisis and grace

The course will involve:

 Morning sessions o f worship & prayer, followed by in terac tive lec tures

 Afternoon field activities in the city of Amsterdam

Evening films and discussions

Travel to Brussels and introduction to EU institutions

Course instructors include Jeff Fountain, and others to be announced.

Course fees: €300 for five days, including lunch and dinner (from Monday 9.00 to Friday 19.00)

Travel costs to Brussels not included .

Accommodation: available for a limited number of participants, for €100 pp, including breakfast.

One night accommodation in YWAM Centre in Brussels is included.
