Why we run Urban Presence DTS
Alexander has been working with the Urban Presence DTS since its beginning in September 2014. In 2015 he co-led the second school and now he is excited to lead the upcoming Urban Presence DTS this September. Find out below what his passion is and why he's running this school.
The Urban Presence is all about relationship with Him and reaching people in an urban context. Our base itself is in the middle of the city. In our school we aim to bring the mission and prayer movement together. We are privileged to work together with the House of Prayer we have in the city. First and foremost, we are here on earth to minister to God and receive His heart for people and this world. In that place of His Presence we receive for ourselves and we go out to embrace and share with the world around us. We actively pursue a relationship with the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. We take the great commandment of loving God, yourself, and others as the fuel for the great commission to disciple nations.
The UP DTS attracts people from different nations and continents. Each year is a new adventure and a unique blend of staff and students. As a school we have a strong culture of worship and prayer. We pursue God and hunger for tangible manifestations and expressions of His Love and Power in our lives and the lives around us. For this year I expect God to meet us in an individual and corporate way. For the students to hear Gods voice, experience His love and see God move in the world around them.
I love to dare people to become the person who tells the stories instead of one who hears the stories. By this I mean to become part of a community that will see God move firsthand. This school is the place for people who are not afraid to encounter God, be transformed from the inside out, and be equipped to change the world around them.
I love to dare people to become a person who tell the stories instead of one who hears the stories.
I strongly believe in the uniqueness of a DTS and the opportunity we give our students to receive as well as to reach out. Personally I know of no other ministry school outside of YWAM where the lecture and outreach phase are the same length of time. We are a vibrant urban community and receive input from a wide range of speakers. The students receive a solid foundation during our time in Amsterdam and have many opportunities to do different ways of ministry in South East Asia. The focus on Asia is another thing I love about UPDTS, because Asia is developing rapidly and within that the Kingdom of God is advancing.
My personal passion is to empower this generation to disciple nations as Jesus commissioned us to do in Matthew 28. I am passionate about seeing a movement of people who love, lead and live radically and with purpose.
