Diane's story; A miraculous reunion in India
Diane Meyers, 27, born and raised in Pennsylvania, USA, worked for a development company in Pittsburg, before coming to Amsterdam for the Foundations in Counseling Ministry (FCM). Hearing about the FCM, she knew this was God’s plan for her. Having a heart for India, Diane was thrilled to be spending her outreach in a place she feels God calling her to. Her time in there proved to be better than anything she could have imagined. God showed her the power of prayer in a new way during her time in a children’s home in New Delhi. Here is her story.
Little did I realize when I followed God to New Delhi with my FCM last winter that He had prepared a miracle for me and a hurting young girl who I had met in 2013 already. Her name is Joy and I first met her when I came to a children’s home in the same city with a prayer group from my home town. Joy is the sweet girl my sister prays for faithfully. I will always remember the first time I met Joy back in 2013; she was truly shining and flourishing in this children’s home. Shortly after my visit than we learned Joy left the home. I never expected to meet her again.
This thought seemed impossible, since New Delhi is a huge city of 21 million people, so I didn’t give the idea another chance.
Last winter, three years later, while in New Delhi with my FCM we spent time in another children’s home. When we first arrived to the home one of the first people we met was a young girl who seemed to have quite a difficult life. I could sense a fear and despair coming from her heart. I knew her heart needed God’s love and I knew God brought me to her to share His love with her. For a moment I considered the idea that she could be the Joy, since that was here name, I had met in 2013 at the other home. This thought seemed impossible, since New Delhi is a huge city of 21 million people, so I didn’t give the idea another chance.
Since meeting Joy that first day, I felt God gave me His heart for her. I made it a priority to pray for her and share God’s love with her. That next day I spent some time with Joy talking about my last time in India. When I started talking about all I did in India in 2013 she asked me if I had an older sister. My eyes filled with tears as I shook my head. It was then we realized God had done the impossible! He reconnected me with the sweet girl my sister prays for. We wrapped our arms together and God’s love was right there with us.
As I sat with Joy I saw God’s miracle unfold before my eyes. I never expected to be reconnected with Joy again but of all the places in one of the largest cities in the world God allowed me to meet Joy again. Joy never expected to find God’s love in her life again, but that is exactly what she found. Hearing how my sister has never stopped praying for her made Joy feel loved in a very special way. Joy could not argue that God allowed us to meet for a purpose.
Joy never expected to find God’s love in her life again, but that is exactly what she found.
God received Joy with open arms the moment she started running to Him that unforgettable day she rededicated her life to Jesus. Joy went from believing she was someone God had forgotten, to knowing deep in her heart that she was God’s chosen one that He has never forgotten and has never stopped loving. During the following weeks in the home, we saw a change in Joy that can only be described by God’s love. The more she learned of and knew God’s love in her life, the more she changed to be the Joy God created her to be. The fear and despair that had been tormenting Joy was now being traded for good things from above: peace, love, joy.
While with Joy this time in India it was clear that countless seeds have been planted in her life. I had the privilege of seeing these seeds take root in her heart and start to bear fruit, good fruit in her life and in the lives of those around her. The entire home was influenced by the change God brought to Joy’s life. Our entire team was encouraged to see what God had done for His precious Joy.
I was reminded of the power of God’s transforming love
Joy started praying for the home she was living in, especially for the staff. I still remember her telling me with such confidence that God will bring the staff to Him and they will accept Him in their lives. Sure enough a few days later two of the staff in the home came to know God as their personal Lord and Savior. Through this, I was reminded of the power of God’s transforming love. We went into this home praying for the salvation of Joy and the staff and we were leaving with an unexpected gift, having Joy and the staff pray for us.
This miracle has built the faith of countless people, including myself. I could see so clearly God’s love behind this miracle of His. Knowing all God orchestrated for his lost children to find Him left me with an impression of His love I will never forget.
